Hi Craig.... Great post (Apple should take a leaf out of your book!)
One of my voice memos is saying its corrupted or and I cant listen to it on the iphone or play it through quicktime... (Its the only MOV file). Is it nexessary to delete all my voice memos before trying whats listed above? I really need them for work, and am worried I wont be able to retrieve them??

This issue still exists as of May 2011 and I've just run into it for the first time after recording a new voice memo (I already have many others for a long time. I did happen to change labels on some of them around the same time though so I wonder if that's where it's choking?). What I see is that is tries to copy the voice memos and when it reaches the last one the status up top will be "Copying Voice Memos from 'iPhone' (Step 2 of 4) / Copying 24 of 24" and then I get a popup with a title of "Organizing Files" and a label of "20110106 115122" with a "Stop" button. It maximizes a CPU core indefinitely until I kill it in task manager.

Specs are:

- iPhone 4
- iOS 4.3.3
- iTunes 10.2.2.12
- Windows 7 x64

I really didn't care about having the voice memos anywhere other than on my phone so I just tried turning off "Include voice memos" on the Sync Music tab but it still appeared to try copying them during the sync and hung as usual.

When that failed I downloaded iPhone Explorer and when attached I noticed that there was a single .mov (from 6 months ago) in the Recordings directory and the rest were .m4a. I deleted the one .mov, exited iPhone Explorer, went into iTunes, and tried to synch but it ended up hanging as usual.

Finally I went back into iPhone Explorer, copied all recordings onto my computer (this page mentions right-click but my only option was drag & drop), and then deleted them all (with right-click) on the phone. I went back into iTunes and the synch then worked.

Thanks to everyone for sharing how they dealt with it.

You'll like this! I've just bought some Sennheiser CX550's off a 'DrTortoise' from Play (Trade) and I instantly knew they were fake! No hologram on the box, photo of the earphones on the packaging had a green tint, the earphones were entirely plastic and the black on the earphones was different in appearance to those that I have seen in photos online (too shiny!).
I'm impressed with how close fakes are getting to the originals but it's disappointing that a trader such as DrTortoise can continue to distribute fake products in this way, particularly when it seems he is doing it on a regular basis! There's only 1 negative comment on his feedback out of numerous reviews!
I've emailed Play and referenced this post so hopefully that will trigger some action on their part.
Anyway, I'm pleased to read that you would recommend these as a suitable upgrade to the CX300's. Like you, I have a pair but they've worn quite badly over time (my fault for not wrapping them up carefully and looking after them). Reputable sellers do have stock of these so if it doesn't work out with DrTortoise, then I shall look to get my hands on some of these from somewhere else. Thank you!

Hi Craig,
Thanks for the super quick reply. As suggested I'll wait for the NextGEN update.

Do you know off the top of your head :-) if nggallery pages (mine include content) rank or at least are crawled by the search engines?
Regards,
Mike.
